Cookie Policy
Last updated: August 14, 2026
In one paragraph
We use a small number of first-party preference cookies, anonymous Google Analytics, and Google AdSense for advertising. We don't use social-network tracking pixels, cross-site profiling, or any cookie that can read the files you process. You can disable cookies entirely and every tool will still work.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file (usually under 4 KB) that a website stores in your browser. Cookies were invented in 1994 to let sites remember things like "the user is logged in" or "the user prefers metric units". They cannot run code, access your camera or microphone, read files on your hard drive, or see anything you process inside another tab. On ImageGates they only do two jobs: remember your preferences, and let us measure aggregate usage so we can improve the tools.
Categories of cookie we use
- Strictly necessary. Required to deliver the site (e.g. Cloudflare bot protection). Cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.
- Preference. Remember UI choices like theme, language and tool defaults. Always opt-out via your browser settings.
- Analytics. Anonymous Google Analytics 4 events that tell us which tools are popular and where pages are slow. IP anonymization is enabled.
- Advertising. Set by Google AdSense to limit how often you see the same ad and (if you have not opted out) to show ads relevant to your interests.
Every cookie, listed
| Cookie | Purpose | Category | Lifetime |
|---|
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics 4 — anonymous usage statistics | Analytics | 14 months |
| __gads, __gpi | Google AdSense — ad frequency capping and personalization | Advertising | 13 months |
| theme | Remembers your light/dark theme choice | Preference | 12 months |
| ig_* | Remembers your last-used tool settings (quality, format, etc.) | Preference | 12 months |
| __cf_bm | Cloudflare bot management — distinguishes humans from bots | Strictly necessary | 30 minutes |
Cookie names ending in * represent a family of identifiers (for example _ga_ABC123 is the GA4 site-specific cookie). Google may rotate cookie names from time to time; this table reflects the set we knowingly deploy as of the date above.
Advertising & Google AdSense
ImageGates is supported by ads served through Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this site and other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising at any time by visiting Google's Ads Settings. For more detail on how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are served a consent banner that complies with the Google EU User Consent Policy. Ads served before consent is granted are non-personalized.
How to manage or block cookies
Every modern browser lets you view, delete or block cookies. The site continues to function without them — only personalization and analytics are affected.
- Google Chrome
- Apple Safari
- Mozilla Firefox
- Microsoft Edge
