Terms of Service

Plain-English summary
Use the tools freely, including for commercial work. Don't process illegal content, don't scrape or attack the site, and understand that compliance checks are best-effort — not a guarantee of acceptance. You keep all rights to your files; we never see them.
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you ("you", "user") and ImageGates ("we", "us"), operated by Abdulkeni Abdelwahid in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. By accessing or using imagegates.com or any subdomain, tool or service offered through it (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please do not use the Service.
2. The Service
ImageGates is a collection of free, browser-based utilities for image editing (compression, resizing, conversion, cropping, rotation, blur, background removal), PDF processing (PDF↔JPG/PNG/Word, image-to-PDF, scanned-document handling), and biometric passport & visa photo preparation for 190+ countries. The Service is provided at no cost. No account, registration or payment is required.
3. Permitted use
You may use the Service for any lawful purpose, including personal, educational, non-profit and commercial use. There is no usage cap, high-quality results, no attribution requirement and no separate commercial licence. You are responsible for ensuring that you have all necessary rights — including copyright, model release and privacy consents — in the files you process.
4. Prohibited use
You agree not to:
- Process content that is illegal in your jurisdiction or ours, including child sexual abuse material, non-consensual intimate imagery, or content that infringes third-party intellectual property.
- Use the Service to create or alter images for the purpose of fraud, identity theft, defamation, or impersonation.
- Run automated scrapers, crawlers or bulk-download scripts against the Service beyond what our robots.txt permits.
- Attempt to disrupt, overload or interfere with the Service (DDoS, brute-force, or other denial-of-service activity).
- Reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to extract proprietary models or source code, except as expressly permitted by applicable law.
- Re-host or rebrand the Service as your own commercial product without prior written agreement.
We reserve the right to rate-limit, suspend or permanently restrict access for any user who violates this section, with or without notice.
5. Your content
You retain 100% of the intellectual-property rights in any file you process through the Service. Because all processing happens client-side in your browser, we do not receive, store or transmit your files, and we therefore neither acquire nor claim any license in them.
6. Our intellectual property
The ImageGates name, logo, site design, original written content, illustrations, and the front-end source code that powers the Service are owned by ImageGates and protected by Canadian and international copyright and trade-mark law. The country specification data we publish is curated editorial work; reproducing it in bulk without attribution or a license is prohibited.
7. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that the output will meet any specific requirement (including acceptance by an embassy, consulate, passport office, employer, or printer). Country specifications are published in good faith, sourced from official authorities and ICAO Doc 9303, but issuing authorities may update their rules without notice. Always confirm requirements with the relevant authority before submitting any application.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ImageGates and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill or business opportunity arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service — including but not limited to a rejected visa or passport application, a missed deadline, or any loss arising from the output of a tool. Our aggregate liability for any direct damages is capped at CAD $100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the minimum extent permitted by law.
9. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ImageGates and its operator from any claim, damage, liability or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of any third-party right.
10. Third-party links and partners
The Service may contain links to third-party websites (for example, official passport-office pages and editorial references). We do not control and are not responsible for the content, privacy practices or availability of third-party sites. Any paid partnership or affiliate placement will be clearly disclosed near the relevant link.
11. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and applicable federal laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. You and ImageGates agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Toronto, Ontario, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country of residence apply.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be flagged at the top of this page for at least 30 days. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version. Your continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time — there is no account to close. We may suspend or terminate access for any user who violates these Terms. Sections 4 through 11 survive termination.
