When you submit a Espaço Schengen visa application online, the portal reads three numbers from your file: pixel dimensions, file size in KB, and DPI. For Espaço Schengen the required digital photo is413 × 531 pixels a 300 DPI, com um tamanho de arquivo de100–500 KB on VFS / TLS. The pixel size is not arbitrary: 413 × 531 px is the 300-DPI equivalent of the official printed size of 35 × 45 mm enforced by Each Schengen member's foreign ministry, following ICAO 9303 and EU Regulation (EC) No 1683/95. Submit a smaller pixel count (say 400 × 500) and the photo gets pixelated when Espaço Schengen prints it onto your physical visa. Submit a larger pixel count (say 1200 × 1500) without resampling, and the file size balloons past the portal's KB limit.

Por que JPEG e não PNG, WebP ou HEIC

A common myth is that DPI only applies to print.
