1. Choose the right time. Photograph after a feed and a nap when the baby is calm and alert. Avoid hungry or tired moments. 2. Set up the surface. Spread a clean white sheet on the floor, a bed, or inside a white car seat. Make sure no patterns, wrinkles, or shadows are visible. 3. Light the scene. Place the baby near a north-facing window for soft, even daylight. Avoid direct sunlight, which creates harsh shadows. Never use camera flash. 4. Position the camera. Stand or kneel directly above the baby. The camera should be parallel to the baby's face, not angled. 5. Frame the shot. Fill the frame with the baby's head and shoulders.
